Nineteen Thai immigrant workers were deported today after they were arrested for illegal entry last Tuesday. The Thais, aged between 20 and 40, were picked up at various rubberes tates in Hulu Terengganu when immigration officers raided the estates following a tip-off from the public.
State Immigration Director Abu Ba kar Yeop said the Thais had been working as tappers in the estates forsome time. They were arrested for entering the country without valid travel do cuments.
However, the department did not prosecute them but sent them back soon after completing investiga tions.
